How do I connect a Bluetooth printer on Android?
Use this guide for a Bluetooth receipt or kitchen printer on the Sidro POS Android app. Bluetooth printers work on Android only, not on a computer.
Before you start:
- A Bluetooth thermal printer that uses ESC/POS, with 58mm or 80mm paper loaded
- The printer charged or plugged in, and near the tablet
Pair the printer with the tablet:
- Turn on the printer.
- On the tablet, open Android Settings, then Bluetooth, and turn Bluetooth on.
- Tap the printer in the list to pair. If it asks for a PIN, use the one in the printer's manual.
Set it up in Sidro:
- Open Sidro POS, tap the More tab, then under Station tap Thermal printers.
- Tap Add profile and type a Profile name, for example Front counter.
- Under Transport, tap BLUETOOTH.
- If you see "Bluetooth permission is required to list paired printers.", tap Allow Bluetooth, then tap Allow.
- Under Paired Bluetooth printers, tap your printer. If it is not listed, tap Refresh.
- Under Paper, choose the Paper width (58mm or 80mm).
- Tap Save profile.
- Under Printer roles, tap the printer under Receipt printer (and Fulfillment printer or Batch summary printer if this printer should print those).
Test it:
- Under Saved profiles, tap Test print. You should get a slip that says "Sidro POS test print".
- Tap Done.
Common fixes:
- "Turn on Bluetooth, then refresh the paired printer list.": turn Bluetooth on in Android, then tap Refresh.
- "No paired Bluetooth devices found": pair the printer in Android Bluetooth settings first, then tap Refresh.
- "Unable to connect to Bluetooth printer": make sure the printer is on, close to the tablet, and not connected to another phone or tablet, then try Test print again.
- "Bluetooth permission is required to print.": allow Bluetooth for Sidro POS (see Why does Android say Bluetooth permission is required for printers?).
