How do I connect a network (LAN or Wi-Fi) printer on Android?
Use this guide for a network printer (LAN cable or Wi-Fi) on the Sidro POS Android app. This is common for kitchen and bar printers.
Before you start:
- A network thermal printer that uses ESC/POS, with 58mm or 80mm paper loaded
- The printer and the tablet on the same network (same router or Wi-Fi)
- The printer's IP address, for example 192.168.1.50. Most printers show it on a self-test or network page; see the printer's manual.
- Tip: ask whoever manages your router to give the printer a fixed IP address, so it does not change after a restart.
Connect and set it up:
- Connect the printer to your router with a LAN cable, or join it to your Wi-Fi using the printer's manual.
- In Sidro POS, tap the More tab, then under Station tap Thermal printers.
- Tap Add profile and type a Profile name, for example Kitchen.
- Under Transport, tap LAN.
- In LAN address / host, type the printer's IP address.
- Leave Port as 9100 unless the printer's manual says a different port.
- Under Paper, choose the Paper width (58mm or 80mm).
- Tap Save profile.
- Under Printer roles, tap the printer under Receipt printer or Fulfillment printer (kitchen or bar tickets), or under a station in Station fulfillment printers.
Test it:
- Under Saved profiles, tap Test print. You should get a slip that says "Sidro POS test print".
- Tap Done.
Common fixes:
- "Unable to reach LAN printer at (address)": check the printer is on, the cable is plugged in, the tablet is on the same Wi-Fi, and the IP address is typed correctly.
- It worked before but stopped: the printer's IP address may have changed. Check the new address, then tap Edit on the profile and update LAN address / host.
