How do I scan barcodes with the camera?

You can scan barcodes with a camera when you do not have a scanner.

On the Android POS app:

  1. On Point of Sale, tap Scan next to the Search or scan barcode box.
  2. Point the camera at the barcode. Sidro adds the matching product to the order.
  3. Camera scanning uses Google Play services on the tablet. If you see "Camera scanner isn't available. Use a USB scanner or type the barcode.", use a scanner or type the code instead.

On web POS (computer or tablet browser):

  1. On Point of Sale, click the barcode button next to the search box (Scan barcode).
  2. Allow camera access when the browser asks.
  3. Hold the barcode in front of the camera. The window closes when the product is added.
  4. Some browsers do not support camera scanning. Then you will see "Camera scanner isn't available. Use a USB scanner or type the barcode." If you blocked the camera, you will see "Camera permission was denied." Allow the camera in your browser settings and try again.

Supported codes: EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 128, Code 39, ITF, and QR codes.

If you see "No menu item for this barcode.", add the code under Barcodes on the product in Catalog.
